THINNING OF THE VEILS: unleashing the preternatural muse

The October show for the EVAA is a themed show that I have been wanting to do for a while - when the idea was coalescing artist friends I spoke with were all excited about the theme.

The fall season is rich with holidays, festivals & celebrations . . . the natural world is coming to the end of the growing cycle and beginning to turn in and prepare for the winter. The fall colors and changing of the light and temperature inspires us to turn in, contemplate the changes of the past year, and remember those who have gone before. The ancients believed that this is when the veils between the worlds of the living and the dead are the thinnest.

The fall is a time to turn in and settle, just as the plants root deeper into the earth . . . although inside my studio the settling in is taking the form of a couple of new inter-related series . . . many pieces have been started - and it is very exciting to see them take shape and move towards completion.
